Inclement Weather Postpones Talladega Race to Monday

LINCOLN, Ala. (June 21, 2020) – Due to inclement weather in East Alabama much of Sunday afternoon, the GEICO 500 from Talladega Superspeedway has been postponed to Monday at 3 p.m. ET.

The 500-mile event was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, but just as TV coverage began, NASCAR implemented a lightning hold. From there, two different thunderstorms swept through the area, and with no lights at the 2.66-mile Superspeedway, officials were forced to postpone to Monday.

Ryan Newman — in his first Superspeedway race since the horrific last-lap crash in the Daytona 500 — will roll off 14th in the Castrol Ford. Chris Buescher fires off 21st in his Fastenal Ford.

Race coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET Monday on FOX. Coverage can also be heard on MRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.
